The Penn State Lehigh Valley men’s golf team took second place in their first event of the season. The Blue Invitational was held at the Blue Course at University Park, Thursday, September 7th. The event was comprised of teams in the PSUAC athletic conference. The Lehigh Valley team traveled to State College on Wednesday night so they were fresh for the early morning tournament. It was a great day for golf: cool and gusty. It was not treacherous but the wind was enough to make it challenging. Play wrapped up around 3 p.m. and the winning scores were announced shortly thereafter. The team’s Brian Zinman was the medalist of the tournament with a low round of 73. The round included a 4 under par back 9 capped off with an eagle on his finishing hole. The runner-up finish was a great start for the season, showing the team’s strengths and weaknesses. The team has a strong lineup of new and returning players with plenty of talent. The men’s team will tee it up next at Hershey Country Club, ┬áSeptember 19th, for the Elizabethtown College Invitational.
