Penn State Lehigh Valley offers various activities for students to do in their free time between classes. One of the more attractive options is ping pong, where many students come to play during common hour. Two tables are located in the fitness center, on the first floor. Balls and paddles are also included, but you can bring your own if you prefer. It’s completely free, you only need to have a Penn State ID and come at the allotted hours that are posted outside the fitness center.

Up to 50 people show up throughout the day to play, with only 2 tables, there is usually a waiting line to get a game in. From novices to seasoned players, someone is almost always playing a game. There are even alternate games to play at the tables such as four square, king of the hill, and around the world. These other variations of ping pong allow more than just 2 or 4 people to play at a single table.

Tournament Information:

The week of October 30th, PSULV athletics will be hosting a doubles tournament. You can sign up right at the fitness center, for free and anyone can enter regardless of skill level. Players have been practicing and getting ready so the competition will certainly not be easy. Since I do work study at the gym desk, I spoke with some players as they came in. When I asked if they were signed up, most people replied that they don’t have a partner. So if you are interested and do not have a partner, there is probably someone out there also looking. Those that were already signed up came in with their partners and practiced, they told me they were ready but wanted to finalize their strategy and techniques.
